I hadn't intended this to be such a regular slot, but here's the second part in two days!

face, me

It's now too long since I posted. Anyway, besides all that, I got a bit bored of what I was doing earlier (writing), and decided to do something a little different. So I wrote a little bit (see, I told you it was only a little different). I wasn't sure if I was going to post it up here, but I kind of had it in the back of my mind to do so, and now I've decided to go ahead. So here's Hugh's adventures in Writing

Part the first, earlyish February 2006 )

Just looking at a preview, it might be advisable to make your window a bit smaller so the lines of text aren't too long otherwise it might be quite difficult to read just like this sentence which really could do with a little more in the way of punctuation.

Hey everyone again, I'm back after my extended absence due to work, holidays and living at home in my parents house again (though they weren't there!) I have this impression that whenever I break from lj-ing for ages it's one of these quizy things that gets me back in, so here goes, stolen from everyone!

A - Accent: strange one this, depends where I am and who I'm with. I found a bit of a 'ford coming in over New Year when I was down with Laura's family, when I'm with some friends it goes pretty american-ish (someone thought I was canadian for the first six months of college!), but there's more and more Cork in there these days.
B - Breakfast Item: Recently it's been Kashi honey with Bran Flakes, using rice milk cause real milk's rotten and disgusting.
C - Chore you hate: Don't really hate many of them when I finally get to doing them, but I always put em off anyway!
D - Dad's Name: Brendan
E - Essential everyday item: Breakfast, as I'm discovering, for purely health/well-being reasons.
F - Flavour ice cream: mmmm, ice-cream! Yeah, I concur with Brian on the Mahon Point bit, but the best ice cream I've ever had was a lovely chocolate flavoured one in Bari in Italy
G - Gold or Silver?: Yeah, silver, or white gold, or platinum - it's all about the colour really isn't it? Though now I think of it my rings and stuff are mainly just stainless steel!
H - Hometown: Whew, who'll have me?! I guess at this stage it'd have to be Cork (moved here 18 years ago, though three years of that I wasn't here!)
I - Insomnia: Yeah, sometimes, for a variety of reasons.
J - Job Title: Student, researcher, tutor (though my offical title is Assistant Lecturer!), regional coordinator, secretary (more than once!) treasurer, "technology consultant", waster, muppet...
K - Kids: Not for a good while yet mes amis
L - Living arrangements: D'pad! Shared apartment (one actual flatmate, but about four or five hangers on!)
M - Mother's birthplace: Limerick (as with my dad funnily enough, she moved to Cork when she was six though, oooh, as did I, that's cool!)
N - Number of significant others you’ve ever had: hmmm, I'm on my second, and a very significant other it's turning out to be!
O - Overnight hospital stays: Only two actually, one when my appendix nearly burst, and one when I returned from Hawaii with a broken neck (note that I didn't actually stay overnight in hospital when I actually broke my neck two weeks earlier!)
P - Phobia: Not many, heights frighten me sometimes
Q - Queer? nope
R - Religious Affiliation: Y'all no this one! Bahá'í it is!
S - Siblings: 1 - Tadhg
T - Time you wake up: Anytime from 6 to 3, actually just anytime I'm asleep, I'm liable to wake up whenever!
U - Unnatural hair colours you've worn: only one, I bleached my hair when it was really long and needed a cut (but it still wasn't cut for about a month!), but I didn't leave the bleach in long enough and it was a lovely bright yellow!
V - Vegetable you refuse to eat: used to be loads, but I tolerate most things now (if I'm served em I'll eat em) except for two things, which are evil and should be forbidden (at least in the States, 8th amendment and all that) - beetroot and mushy peas!
W - Worst Habit: Hmmm, nothing I'd care to share!! I guess talking crap would be one!
X - X-rays you’ve had: A fair few, one on my hips when I was young, I think I had dental ones done ages ago too. Most recently there were a whole bunch for my neck, including a couple of ct-scans which were very cool!
Y - Yummy: chocolate, but any good food really, I like food, food is good!
Z - Zodiac sign: Cancer

Well, I can't do any serious work for a wee while because I'm doing a big full-on virus scan. I got a warning to say I had some infection or other on the login screen, so I started it straight away (one hour and counting now!). Everything's sluggish while it's working. Anyway, I'm not sure what I'm going to write today, I've been thinking about what to do with my lj, and I'm not quite sure (unlike the other LJ in my life, but that's another story - them what know know!) I've never been one for just pouring my life onto the page, and that probably won't change for a while. I'm gonna cut now, before I forget and end up filling your friends pages!

Hey there! Well, I think my honeymoon from the effects of my broken neck is a bit over! Suppose it couldn't last that long. I think I'm pretty much back to my pre-break self now, just with a stiffer neck. Last week was great though - I was full of energy and buzzing for the whole time, really enjoyed it!! I've got my first full physio session now this week, hope it goes ok!
